NIGHT FISHING

Lake Pokegama can offer good night fishing for walleyes at any time of the year. Although it has its challenges, big fish seem to come a little easier when it’s black, with the largest walleyes of the year usually coming after dark.

Because people have different degrees of "walleye insomnia", night trips can be booked in two-hour increments.

Minnowbaits worked over green cabbage, points, and in-side turns are the preferred method. Trolling and casting approaches are used. Full moon periods are by far the most productive, June through October.
