Pokegama Guide Service

Thank you for visiting Pokegama Guide Service!! The guide service devoted ONLY to Lake Pokegama. Lake Pokegama is situated just south  of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

I invite you to join me on one of the premier walleye and smallmouth lakes in the state.

Catches on Pokegama will rival that of any lake in the state, for both average size and numbers.

I live on Lake Pokegama and fish the lake close to 100 days a year.

I focus my time on walleye and smallmouth, although the lake supports excellent largemouth, pike, and crappie fishing.

The average size of walleyes and smallmouth in Lake Pokegama are what make the lake truly unique, the fish run large. DNR netting surveys and angler catches indicate a high population of 20-28" walleyes and 15-19" smallmouth. True trophies are always a possibility.

Like any lake, Pokegama is susceptible to overharvest and the potential for taking lots of big fish is possible during a hot-bite. Because of this, Pokegama Guide Service suggests voluntary release of large walleyes and all bass. Any big walleye or bass should be photographed, measured, weighed, and released. These fish can be caught and enjoyed many times over and are vital to maintain a lake like Pokegama. In the unfortunate incident of a deeply hooked fish, where survival is questionable, taking big fish may be the best thing to do. There is nothing better then fresh fish after a day on the water, selective harvest is promoted.
